Frontiers in MBE Growth of TMDs and Topological Insulators

Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) is well known for its atomic level control of high quality crystal growth. We discuss the challenges and progress of using MBE for 2D chalcogenides focusing on the thermodynamics and defects in these materials and highlighting our recent work with magnetically doped topological insulators.

2018 Graphene and Beyond Workshop

To enhance synergy within the community and build toward a strong future in 2D crystal science and technology, the Center for 2D and Layered Materials and the 2D Crystal Consortium at Penn State University will be hosting the 6th Annual “Graphene and Beyond” workshop.  The workshop will bring together a wide spectrum of research scientists within the government R&D community, industry, and academia as a means to build synergy in layered materials and nano-device research.
