  • Ye Cao Awarded Gold Medal at MRS   Ye Cao was awarded a gold medal for his poster titled "Phase-field Simulation of Defect Transport and Resistance Degradation Behavior in Single Crystal BaTiO3" at the Materials Research Society (MRS) meeting held in November 2012. The poster discussed the effect of ferroelectric and ferroelastic domain structures on resistance degradation in BaTiO3 single layer capacitor. This work is important to the fundamental understanding of the degradation mechanism and reliability of ferroelectric capacitors.

  • Houbing Huang Nominated Best Poster Award at MRS   Houbing Huang was nominated for the best poster award for his poster titled "Micromagnetic Simulation of Spin-transfer Torque Effects in Heusler-based Alloy Spin Valve" at the Materials Research Society (MRS) meeting held in November 2012. The new effects he discussed in the poster will be helpful for developing the new MRAM and microwave oscillator devices.

  • Dr. Long-Qing Chen named ASM Fellow   In 1969, the American Society for Materials (ASM) established the Fellow of the Society Honor to provide recognition to members for their distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering and develop a broadly based forum of technical and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the Society. Dr.Long-Qing Chen was selected as a 2012 ASM Fellow "for outstanding development of computational and experimentally-verified models for predicting phase transformations, microstructural evolution, and ferroelectric and magnetostatic structure-property relationships, in metals, ceramics and thin films."
