Fifty years ago, the entire enterprise of research was fundamentally changed. Our ability to collect massive amounts of data, share, analyze, and build advanced simulation models has transformed the sciences, engineering, and the humanities. Today, we collect data at a faster rate than we can analyze. We live in a data and computation-rich but knowledge-poor world. ICDS was started a decade ago to support this revolution in research. The core of ICDS is about fifty co-hires and their students whose research interests span from analyzing microscopic phenomena to our cosmos. Some of them work on the fundamental quantum physics that governs the universe, while others are driving the revolution in computation, data science and AI/ML. I will highlight how ICDS is helping drive the digital revolution, focusing on the future of Penn State digital research.
