Essential Web Graphics

What All Web Designers Should Know

The better we understand something the better able we are to find the elegant and simple solutions. Understanding how Web design affects communication is a formidable task, however. This session was inspired in bits and pieces--or by questions, problems, and the many "I'm confused" and "I don't understand" e-mails that I receive. This is my attempt to offer a little clarity and provide a better understanding of Web graphic file formats, compression, optimization, and related terminology, as well as how they can affect communication.

Presenter: Cyndi Carey

Session Description:
9:30 - 10:45
Penn Stater Room 208

The use of graphics affects not only the aesthetics and download time of a Web page, but also how information is disseminated. Just as the proper use of graphics can facilitate communication, improper use can hinder communication. Attendees will gain a better understanding of Web graphic usage and communication in general.
