MRI Safety - Training
New employees must complete the following two safety training courses within ninety days from date of hire. Failure to do so will result in loss of laboratory privileges. Upon completion of the courses, forward a copy of the results to Building Safety Officer Joe Lonjin ( Validate to view address - Send Email via form) and to Amy Davis (Validate to view address - Send Email via form) in the MRL Building Main Office.
#1 Mandatory Building Safety Training
(entirely on-line; provided by MRI Safety Committee)
- This process is completed entirely on-line through ANGEL, Penn State’s on-line Course Management System.
- First - review a Power Point presentation, then complete an on-line test. (90% required).
- Complete within ninety days from date of hire. Failure to do so = loss of laboratory privileges.
- You will receive a handout from MRI Human Resources (Tina O’Hara) with specific instructions regarding this training as part of your welcome package.
- If you do not receive this handout or have questions, see Tina or another member of the Safety Committee.
#2 Mandatory Hazardous Waste Training
(provided by Environmental Healthy and Safety)
- Register on-line (you will need your Penn State Access ID to register) for class; see “Training Courses and Registration”; weekly offerings of the class.
- EH&S coordinates the University’s Disposal Program for Hazardous Waste.
- All employees that work with chemicals must complete EH&S Chemical and Hazardous Waste Handling.
- Complete within ninety days from date of hire. Failure to do so = loss of lab privileges.
