Internal Users

MCL is a fully-staffed analytical laboratory that offers researchers at Penn State convenient and affordable access to a wide range of state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation and tools.

 

If you know what technique you need, contact one of our technical staff members directly by email, phone or simply stop by one of our labs (see contact information on the respective techniques web pages).

 

If you're not sure which technique you need, contact the MCL administrative office by phone 814-865-2328 to be referred to the appropriate technical staff member.

 

Prior to discussing your analytical needs with a technical staff member, you should have a verbal agreement with your advisor. If needed, MCL technical staff members can provide a quotation prior to beginning a project.

 

New users will need to apply for an account to use the MRI Portal electronic facility scheduling and billing system before work can begin.

Training

Training is available by appointment throughout the year. Training should only be scheduled once you are prepared to become a regular user of the instrumentation. There are special guidelines for training in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) available here.
