Getting Started in the Nanofab
Step 1: Create your User Profile at UFIS.
Step 2: Create your Billing Account at UFIS.
Step 3: Schedule your Monday morning Project Overview Session.
Appointments begin at 9:30 am in 186 MRI.
Present 1 or 2 brief powerpoint slides outlining your project:
- Describe the background and next steps of the research project
- Indicate what device/material/process you wish to develop
- Indicate equipment needed (if known)
- Explain how you expect the Nanofab to help you in your research
- Indicate your desired end result
Typical length of presentation is 15 minutes, total staff discussion time is 5 minutes
Step 4: Schedule your Tuesday morning Facility Safety Training Session.
Safety training is required to enter the cleanroom and takes place every Tuesday in room 186 MRI from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
**You are required to either view the training slides OR the training video on Social and Ethical Issues in Nanotechnology. You will be asked to verify that you completed this first step to Safety Training and Orientation.
Step 5: After you have attended safety training, you can begin training on individual tools.

The Nanofab does not warrant or guarantee any results from a given project. The user and user institution is completely responsible for the outcome of their project as well as for payment for all work performed on their project. Any work done by the Nanofab staff in a support capacity or a remote access program is on a best effort basis.
The user and user institution will not disclose any proprietary or confidential information to the Nanofab staff, unless a prior non-disclosure or confidential agreement has been established between the user’s institution and the Nanofab.
