The Cary 100 UV-Vis is a double beam instrument, meaning that the incident beam is split between the sample and reference cells. This configuration allows for the simultaneous acquisition of the sample and reference spectra. Separate tungsten and deuterium light sources are used in tandem allowing measurements to be made in the 200 nm - 800 nm range. The spectral bandwidth can be set as low as 0.2 nm. The MCL owns sampling accessories enabling the acquisition of transmission, specular reflectance, and diffuse reflectance spectra.
