Director's Message

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to call your attention to the new Materials Research Institute Bulletin Focus on Materials. You will receive the first quarterly issue in January. The audience for this vehicle is industry, especially in the Commonwealth, and the goal is to inform them of our activities, facilities and contributions in materials research and technology transfer. I encourage you to think about activities in your own research area that are relevant to this goal, and let us know so we can consider them for future issues. We also invite you to send us the names of companies that you work with who could benefit from receipt of the Bulletin.

I also want to inform you that the Materials Science Building Programming Committee completed its final report this month. This report is directed primarily at our OPP and the architectural firm that will design and manage construction of the building. In addition to details about the breakdown of space and types of laboratory space, it includes the vision and anticipated facilities for the building.

I wish you all a relaxing semester break, Happy Holidays and another successful New Year.

Carlo
