Research Synopsis:
Science and technology of composite electroceramic transducers: 1-3, 2-2, cymbal, BB, double-dipper, and double-driver designs. Crystal physics and crystal chemistry of ferroelectrics and other ferroic materials. Structure-property relations in sensors, actuators and transducers.
Technologies Impacted by Research:
Composite transducers are widely used in biomedical, underwater, and nondestructive testing applications. A number of companies, including several in the State College area are engaged in these activities. We have patented about ten of these designs.
