Research Synopsis:
Our research expertise is in the synthesis and structure/property relationships of novel nano-materials including activated carbons, graphite intercalation compounds, diamond films, fullerenes, and nanotubes. Facilities: laser, arc and CVD synthesis, optical spectroscopy (Raman, FTIR, UV-Vis-Near IR), electrical transport (resistivity and thermopower) and Gravimetric Gas adsorptions. Current emphasis: hydrogen storage, chemical sensors, carbon nanotubes and semiconducting nanowires.
Technologies Impacted by Research:
Gas Storage, Hydrogen storage for fuel cell-power ground transportation, Nanoscale Electronic devices and Electro-Optic devices. Nanoscale, fast-response Chemical/Gas Sensors.
