Research Synopsis:
Ferroelectric materials and their applications. Characterization of dielectric, elastic and piezoelectric properties of materials. Design of high frequency medical ultrasonic imaging transducers, NDE broadband transducers, ultrasonic bonding transducers and other piezoelectric devices using finite element simulations. Design of dielectric filters/resonators for microwave and millimeter wave devices using FDTD method.
Technologies Impacted by Research:
Ferroelectric materials have superior piezoelectric, pyroelectric and dielectric properties. They are being used to make ultrasonic transducers, infrared imaging devices and ceramic capacitors. Advanced mathematical tools plus powerful computation schemes make it possible to simulate real life problems, which can provide direct visualization, help better understand the fundamental principles and leads to better designs of ultrasonic transducers and dielectric devices.
