Mission Statement:
The researchers involved with the Resource Center are working to capitalize on a recent breakthrough by MRL faculty in electro-mechanical actuation provided by single crystal piezoelectrics for high impact applications including, but not limited to, helicopter rotor control, sonar systems and bio-medical imaging.
Research Program:
* Non-PbO (toxic) piezoelectric materials
* Innovative crystal growth techniques
* Crystallographic/domain engineering
* Micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS)
* Electro-optic and electro-optic devices
Strain vs. E-field behavior for crystals of PZN-PT and PMN-PT, and for various electromechanical ceramics.
