7. Smart Materials Integration Laboratory

The W.M. Keck Smart Materials Integration Laboratory was dedicated on the University Park campus of Penn State University in March 2002. The laboratory was designed to allow the creation of a new generation of "smart" integrated components, combining electrical, mechanical, and optical functions. Using both semiconductor and low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) technologies, the laboratory enables the integration and miniaturization of "smart" materials and the fabrication of components that exceed those created with conventional semiconductor-based materials.

For a full description of the Keck SMIL facility and its capabilities, please see the W.M. Keck Smart Materials Integration Laboratory page of the Penn State Materials Research Institute website.
