The Center for Glass Research (CGR) is a multi-university activity funded by the National Science Foundation and the membership fees of industrial participants. The founding home and administration for the CGR is at Alfred University, while Penn State is the CGR Site for Glass Surfaces, Interfaces and Coatings Research.

  • cleaner, smoother, stronger
  • passivation of pristine, manufactured surfaces
  • compatibility with deposited electronics and photonics….including organic materials
  • bonding to microelectronic and optoelectronic chips
  • compatibility with nano/microfabrication processing
  • characterization of nanoscale phenomena
  • interactions with proteins, nucleic-acids and cells
