Vasudeva Rao Aravind

Research Interests : My research centers on studying structure-property relationship in ferroelectric and multiferroic materials. In particular it involves investigating polar symmetry, magnetic/elastic symmetry, nanoscale local domain structure, domain switching mechanism, phase transition temperature, in ferroelectric and multiferroic materials using techniques such as nonlinear optics and scanning probe microscopy. For my future research, in the short-term, I intend to use my experimental expertise in the above mentioned techniques to study properties of novel ferroelectrics and multiferroic materials at the nanoscale. In the long term, my goal is two fold. On one hand, against the backdrop of material characterization, I intend to expand my skills and learn new techniques for study of multiferroics. On the other hand, I wish to utilize the techniques in which I have the expertise for interdisciplinary collaborations like study of bio-materials, organic ferroelectrics, polymers etc.
